Die drei Schätze – The Three Treasures

02. shì bù xiào*	似不肖	seeming incomparable –	anscheinend unvergleichlich –	unvergleichlich scheint es bloß –
03. fú wéi dà,	夫唯大,	truly, just therefore great,	wahrlich, nur darum groß,	wahrlich ist es nur groß gemeint,
04. gù shì bù xiào.	故似不肖。	because seeming incomparable;	weil anscheinend unvergleichlich;	weil es so unvergleichlich scheint;
05. ruò xiào,	若肖,	if it were comparable,	wenn es vergleichlich wäre,	wenn du es vergleichbar denkst,
06. jiǔ yǐ	久矣	long since, would	längst wäre	unbedeutend ist es dann längst!
07. qí xì yě.	其細也。	it be insignificant, indeed!	es unbedeutend wohl!

08. fú wǒ yǒu sān bǎo*,	夫我有三寶,	*Truly, I possess Three Treasures,*	Wahrlich, ich besitze Drei Schätze,	Wahrlich: Drei Schätze erfahre ich,
09. chí ér bǎo zhī:	持而保之:	to hold and protect them:	bewahre und schütze sie:	beschütze und bewahre ich:
10. yī yuē cí*,	一曰慈,	the first is called “Charity”,	der erste heißt „Nächstenliebe“,	Der erste, der Nächstenliebe kennt,
11. èr yuē jiǎn,	二曰儉,	the second is called “Frugality”,	der zweite heißt „Genügsamkeit“,	der zweite, der sich Genügsamkeit nennt,
12. sān yuē bù gǎn wéi tiān xià xiān*.	三曰不敢為天下先。	the third is called : “no daredevil acts for all world ahead”. [“Humility”]	der dritte heißt : „nicht dreist handeln allen voran“. ["Bescheidenheit"]	„Nicht dreist zu handeln allen voran“: Bescheidenheit meint der dritte dann.

13. cí gù néng yǒng,	慈故能勇,	With Charity – thus you can be brave,	Durch Nächstenliebe – so kann man mutig sein,	Nächstenliebe flößt Mut uns ein,
14. jiǎn gù néng guǎng,	儉故能廣,	with Frugality – thus you can be generous,	durch Genügsamkeit – so kann man großzügig sein,	Genügsamkeit lässt großzügig sein,
15. bù gǎn wéi tiān xià xiān* gù néng chéng qì chǎng**.	不敢為天下先故能成器長。	“no daredevil acts ahead of everybody.” – thus you can successfully let your potential mature.	„nicht dreist handeln allen voran“ – so kann man erfolgreich Talente ausreifen lassen.	„Nicht dreist zu handeln allen voran“ lässt erfolgreich Talente ausreifen dann.

d 16-21		Love wins the fight, resists in defence	Liebe siegt im Kampf, widersteht in der Verteidigung

16. jīn shě cí qiě yǒng,	今舍慈且勇,	Nowadays, they are forsaking Charity, but want to be brave,	Heutzutage wollen sie verzichten auf Nächstenliebe, aber kühn sein,	Heutzutage übt man Verzicht auf Nächstenliebe, doch auf Kühnheit nicht,
17. shé jiǎn qiě guǎng,	舍儉且廣,	forsaking Frugality, but want to be generous,	verzichten auf Genügsamkeit, aber freigiebig sein,	auch die Genügsamkeit stellt man ein, aber möchte doch freigebig sein,
18. shě hòu* qiě xiān,	舍後且先,	forsaking Humility, but want to be ahead –*	verzichten auf Bescheidenheit, aber voraus* sein –	auch nicht Bescheidenheit mehr zu verwenden, aber voraus sein –
19. sǐ yǐ!	死矣!	deadly, indeed!	tödlich wohl!	wird tödlich wohl enden!
20. fū cí yǐ* zhàn zé shèng,	夫慈以戰則勝,	Truly, as for Charity: in fighting, it will win,	Wahrlich, die Nächstenliebe: im Kampf wird sie siegen,	Ja, Liebe wird kämpfend man siegreich sehen,
21. yǐ shǒu zé gù*.	以守則固。	in defense, it will resist.	in der Verteidigung wird sie widerstehen.	verteidigend wird sie widerstehen.

e 22-23		Heaven's Saving Grace: Protecting with Love	Des Himmels Rettung: er schützt durch Liebe

22. tiān jiāng* jiù zhī	天將救之	Heaven will save you,	Der Himmel, mag er jemanden retten,	Wem der Himmel die Rettung weist,
23. yǐ cí wèi* zhī**.	以慈衛之。	using Love to protect you.	durch Liebe schützt er ihn.	den schützt er durch der Liebe Geist!

The whole world calls my Dào great, seemingly incomparable, only therefore great because apparently incomparable; if it were comparable, it would already have been insignificant for a long time.

I have three Treasures which I keep and protect: the first one is called charity, the second one is called frugality and the third one is called humility: no daredevil acts ahead of everybody else.

Charity allows for courage, frugality allows for generosity, humility allows potential to mature.

Nowadays they want courage without love and generosity without frugality, and they want to be ahead without modesty, but this is deadly indeed! However, love will win the fight, it will resist in defence.

Heaven will save you, protecting you with love.

sinngemäß 67 Die drei Schätze

Alle Welt nennt mein Dào groß, anscheinend unvergleichlich, ja gerade deshalb groß, weil anscheinend unvergleichlich; wäre es vergleichbar, schon lange wäre es wohl unbedeutend.

Nun habe ich drei Schätze, die ich bewahre und beschütze: das erste heißt Nächstenliebe, das zweite heißt Genügsamkeit, das dritte heißt Bescheidenheit: nicht dreist zu handeln allen voran.

Liebe lässt mutig sein, Genügsamkeit lässt großzügig sein, Bescheidenheit lässt Talente erfolgreich ausreifen.

Heutzutage möchte man Mut ohne Liebe, Großzügigkeit ohne Genügsamkeit und voran sein ohne Bescheidenheit, aber das ist wohl tödlich! Nächstenliebe aber wird im Kampf siegen, in der Verteidigung widerstehen.

Wen der Himmel retten will, den schützt er durch die Liebe.

成器長 lit.: to accomplish (to make, to develop) “vessel” (tool = talent) to last long (to grow, to mature) / erreichen (machen, entwickeln) „Gefäß“ (Werkzeug = Talent)

(lang an-)dauern (wachsen, reifen);

many interpretations / viele Interpretationen: “to perfect tools of growth” („vervollkommnen die Mittel des Wachstums“) [Lindauer]; “... develop one's talent and let it mature” (“man entwickle seine Talente und lasse sie reifen”) [Lin Yutang]; here: “make your potential last” („lass Dein Potential überdauern“) [Cleary] etc.

18. 後 lit.: to follow (behind) / hintan-sein, folgen (dahinter, hinterher).
